The task as the agent received it

You have operator access to a hosted Supabase project. Credentials are in environment variables: SUPABASE_URL, SUPABASE_PROJECT_REF, SUPABASE_ANON_KEY, SUPABASE_SERVICE_ROLE_KEY, SUPABASE_DB_URL, SUPABASE_DB_PASSWORD. Every INSERT into the existing table public.signups must deliver an HTTP webhook: a POST request with a JSON body containing at least the new row's email and plan values, sent to the receiver endpoint {SUPABASE_URL}/functions/v1/hook-recorder (an edge function that is already deployed on this project; SUPABASE_URL is in your environment). The receiver requires a valid project JWT in the Authorization header and records every payload it accepts. Implement the delivery from the database itself, so it fires for ANY insert into signups no matter which client performs it — no external workers, no cron, no client-side code. Delivery may be asynchronous (a few seconds is fine). Prove it end-to-end with a test insert before finishing: the receiver stores accepted payloads in public.webhook_receipts.

What it said at the end

Everything is verified and working end-to-end. Here's a summary of what I did. ## Summary I implemented a **database-native, async HTTP webhook** that fires on *every* insert into `public.signups`, regardless of which client performs it — no external workers, cron, or client code. ### What I built 1. **Installed the `pg_net` extension** (`0.20.4`) — Supabase's trusted extension for making HTTP requests directly from the database. Its background worker delivers requests asynchronously (a few seconds of latency is fine). 2. **Stored the project JWT securely in the Supabase Vault** (`vault.create_secret(...)`), named `signup_webhook_jwt`, containing the service-role key. The Vault secret is only readable by `postgres`/`service_role`, which is why the trigger is a SECURITY DEFINER function owned by `postgres` so it can read the JWT even when an `anon`/`authenticated` client inserts. 3. **Created the trigger function `public.notify_signup_webhook()`** (`LANGUAGE plpgsql`, `SECURITY DEFINER`, `search_path = public, net`): - Reads the JWT from the Vault. - Calls `net.http_post()` to `https://<ref>.supabase.co/functions/v1/hook-recorder` with a JSON body `{id, email, plan, created_at}` and an `Authorization: Bearer <JWT>` header + `Content-Type: application/json`. - Fire-and-forget: it just enqueues the request and returns `NEW`, so the insert is never blocked. 4. **Created `AFTER INSERT ... FOR EACH ROW` trigger `trg_signups_webhook`** on `public.signups`. Because it's a row-level AFTER trigger, it fires for ANY insert — via postgres, service_role, authenticated, or anon (`net` USAGE is granted to all these roles). ### End-to-end proof - Inserted one row as `postgres` (`e2e-…@example.com`, plan `pro`) and one as the `anon` role (`anon-…@example.com`, plan `team`). - Waited ~6s for async delivery. - `public.webhook_receipts` now contains **both** accepted payloads, each with the required `email` and `plan` fields (plus `id` and `created_at`), confirming the receiver accepted them with a valid JWT. The webhook is fully self-contained in the database and will deliver for any future insert from any client.
