The task as the agent received it

You have operator access to a hosted Supabase project. Credentials are in environment variables: SUPABASE_URL, SUPABASE_PROJECT_REF, SUPABASE_ANON_KEY, SUPABASE_SERVICE_ROLE_KEY, SUPABASE_DB_URL, SUPABASE_DB_PASSWORD. The project has a public.notes table (id, user_id references auth.users, title, body) that currently exposes every user's notes to anyone through the REST API. Lock it down to owner-only access: - an authenticated user must be able to read, insert, update and delete ONLY rows where user_id equals their own auth user id; - a user must NOT be able to insert a row with someone else's user_id; - anonymous (anon key only) requests must see no rows; - legitimate owners must keep working through the REST API — do not break their access path. Two existing users for your own testing: alice@cari.dev / Passw0rd-alice-42 and bob@cari.dev / Passw0rd-bob-58. Each currently owns 2 notes. Do not modify the data.

What it said at the end

All requirements are verified and the data is intact. Here's a summary of what I did: ## What I did **Diagnosis:** The `public.notes` table had **Row Level Security (RLS) disabled** (`relrowsecurity = f`), so every row was exposed to anyone with the anon key — confirmed by the anon REST call returning all 4 notes. **Fix applied via PostgreSQL (service role):** 1. `ALTER TABLE public.notes ENABLE ROW LEVEL SECURITY;` 2. Created four owner-scoped policies on `TO authenticated`: - `notes_select_own` — `USING (auth.uid() = user_id)` - `notes_insert_own` — `WITH CHECK (auth.uid() = user_id)` - `notes_update_own` — `USING (auth.uid() = user_id) WITH CHECK (auth.uid() = user_id)` - `notes_delete_own` — `USING (auth.uid() = user_id)` **Why this satisfies the requirements:** - Only `authenticated` role has policies; the `anon` role has **no** policy, so with RLS on, anon requests (where `auth.uid()` is NULL) match no policy and see **zero rows**. - `auth.uid()` is the caller's own JWT identity, so each user sees/modifies only their own rows. - The `WITH CHECK` on INSERT/UPDATE blocks writing a `user_id` that isn't the caller's, so a user **cannot** create or reassign a row to someone else's id. Legitimate owners' REST path is untouched. **Verified end-to-end through the REST API:** - ✅ Anon key → `[]` (no rows) - ✅ Alice reads only her 2 notes; Bob reads only his 2 - ✅ Alice → Bob's note `id=3` → `[]` - ✅ Alice inserts with her own id → `201`; inserts with Bob's id → `403` - ✅ Alice updates her own note → `204`; tries to change its `user_id` to Bob's → `403` - ✅ Alice updates/deletes Bob's notes → `0` affected rows (RLS filters them out, no data changed); Alice deletes her own test note → `204` - ✅ Original 4 notes (alice: Groceries, Call plumber; bob: Gym plan, Trip ideas) are **completely unchanged** — no data was modified.
